The diagonal lattice reads as a continuous pattern rather than a grid, and planing leaves both faces smooth to handle, paint or seal. Planed all round costs more than the rough-sawn version of the same panel, which makes it the choice where the trellis is at eye level, on a patio, against a wall or anywhere it is touched — for a back boundary that will be covered by planting, the Rough Diagonal Trellis does the same job for less.
