Of course, starting your own garden for the first time isn’t the easiest thing to do. There’s a lot to consider and you don’t want to end up with a whole bunch of dead plants. So, here are three quick tips to help you out in the beginning.
Start with the easy plants
There are plants that grow with just a little bit of love and attention and there are plants that require hard work and skill. Start with the easy plants. Read up on the different types and do your research. Speak to someone at the nursery when you’re buying the seeds or plants. They’ll know what you can handle in the beginning. After you’ve successfully grown your first garden, you can move on the more difficult plants.
Keep track of everything
The thing with plants is that they need to be looked after properly. They need to be watered at certain times and protected from harsh weather conditions. And the best way to ensure you’re taking good care of your garden is to keep track of it in a journal. Write down what you need to do and describe the progress as the plants grow. This way you’ll always know what you need to do and whether or not you’re doing it correctly. It’s also a good idea to take some pictures as you go along. You may not notice how your plants are growing when you look at them every day but you can see the difference in the photographs.
Make sure your garden is fenced off
People often don’t think about putting up physical barriers to protect their garden but this is important. Some good quality wooden fencing, or even wire fencing, will ensure that your plants are able to grow without being trampled on or eaten by small animals.
