All our poles are treated in accordance with the SABS specifications, using TANALITH Treatment, producing weather resistant poles that will not affect vegetation or leach. Tapered poles fall under the specification SABS 457 and Cylindrical poles under SABS 1288.

The SABS mark indicates that our timber product has been prepared in such a way that:
• The correct amount of preservative has been used and our product will not rot or be eaten by insects.
• The company treating the product can be easily identified

Hazard Class – The purpose for which the timber is being purchased defines the treatment required. A pole to be used in a roof need not be treated with the same amount of chemical as a pole being used for a jetty. The treatment changes with different applications. The chemicals need not penetrate to the same depth, nor need the solution be the same. The more hazardous the application, the deeper the chemical.
