The Pole Yard is a supplier of timber products such as poles ranging from gum lathes to trees. We can manufacture to your specs, as well as provide you with a complete range of wooden fencing, trellis, jungle gyms, garden furniture, edging, bridges, arches, kennels, and much more

The Pole Yard is currently directed and run by its three members:

Leeroy Deane, John Els and James Griffiths
Collectively the partners and branch managers have extensive experience in the specific market in which the Pole Yard operates. They are highly motivated and enjoy a dynamic partnership.

The Pole Yard was started more than 15 years ago by Robin Stott, in 1995, At that time Robin was supplying reed for reed ceilings to companies until he met Leeroy through an after hours delivery of tiles which he had purchased, once Robin saw Leeroy’s enthusiasm and dedication he offered Leeroy a job.

Leeroy joined the company in 1997, Leeroy’s young enthusiastic entrepreneurship skills combined with Robin’s business experience created an effective partnership that set the tone and foundation for the business.

The Pole Yard has grown to four retail outlets and two factories

Noordhoek • Retreat • Paarden Eiland • Vredenburg

With Leeroy joining the business, The Pole Yard was moved down to its current location at the Noordhoek Garden Emporium and expanded to include more products such as ‘latte’, rustic garden furniture and fencing materials.

The Pole Yards customers demands were growing and they were supplying to people all over the peninsula and with such a high demand by customers they saw a gap in the market to open another branch in a more central location (Paarden Eiland). With the opening of branch in Paarden Eiland they took on John Els who has extensive experience in the industry.

With the continuing demand they went on to open another branch in Retreat. James, who has been with The Pole Yard since 2001 was promoted to manage the Retreat Branch.

After some time Robin decided to take a back seat as he focussed on his other business ventures and was bought out by Leeroy, John and James

The members run the business from the key advantage points built on experience and expertise:

The Pole Yard manufactures fencing, rustic garden furniture, jungle gyms and any other purpose-built outdoor products their clients may require. We also provide latte for various builders and retailers as well as larger organisations. Supplying material to retailers and projects around South Africa has become a large part of our business, we have established an effective distribution network to serve this market. The Pole Yard also supplies internationally to places such as Ghana, Spain, Dubai and Denmark

All our material is sourced from renewable FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)-registered plantations and none of our wood is indigenous we only use harvested alien species, primarily Gum (eucalyptus grandis) and Pine (pinus radiata).”

The FSC is a world-body that oversees the forestry and timber industries. The FSC sees that companies adhere to their strict legislation to protect indigenous forests around the world.”

The Pole Yard continues to grow and the partners continue exploring expansion options.
